Thursday:

Over the past few months, learning about the process of photography, it’s do’s and don’ts, as well as how easy it is to create photographs, especially with photographic paper.

Considering the fact that I have also done Screenprinting during this project, using my own images and ones I have found and then adapted to them to create the photo-emulsion stencils, the acetate print outs I had made before hand to making the stencils (which ended up being useless in that process) then found their only current purpose, without even knowing yet.

That purpose was using them to create photograms with them, since when I dug them out of this project book, the contrast between the transparentness of the acetate and the black ink, would make strong sharp lines on the photographic paper when exposed to by the correct like, since the ink would cut off all the light from the paper when compressed with a glass plate.

This experimentation wasn’t going to be a main focus, and I knew that from the get-go, since I know that I enjoy this process, but it wasn’t going to be “the end result”, more of a “this is interesting, maybe this”. Overall, the process of creating these photogram maps was fun and intriguing, and if I have enough time at the end of the project to create a photogram of my final map then yeah, sure, I’ll do it, but it won’t be a “must do” kind of thing.
