Over the weekend I had a bit of a think about what I was putting into the book, and listened to all of the recordings and notes that I had taken from family about my grandfather, and noticed how some of them are a little saucier than others, and might not be suitable for all ears.
When I took the notes in the first place, I did tone them down a little bit so if people were to see them and read them, they weren't to appear too rude or anything, and make me feel odd or out of place, same for my grandfather and my family, so I wrote them down in my awful and writing, in a way which I knew what was going on but didn't give too much away to onlookers. Even though, the full recordings and notes have been uploaded in full, so anyone who wants to read them can see everything that I had taken down about my grandfather/been told about him.
This goes as well for some of the stories which I have already written and confirmed for the project/to go into the book, as I have had to change or tone down some of the elements so that they would not offend for seem weird to the general public, as well as not giving my grandfather and my family a bad name for the events which I am writing about and drawing about.
I suppose this somewhat goes for the comic in the project as well, since I shed away from the whole major fantasy aspects (excluding the non-reality character present in it) the comic became watered down and much more grounded, something in which I hope the audience can better related to.
Now, the actual message of the story is something a little more touchy, since I really talked about myself throughout it, with our placing too much of myself so that people would notice it was me. I wanted the parts of me with are similar to others, could be shared without causing any distress and upset people, but as I have found in the world so far through my life, with every up must come a down, this may be a darker message, but without the dark, there is no light, and without that happiness in the world, it will be expected that this short story may upset or cause offence to some people. So, because of that, I shall be placing a disclaimer notice before the comic, and a message after the comic, letting people know briefly what it covers and what it is about, so that if the do not want to read it they can skip ahead.
