For hundreds of years, stories have been and are being told. We watch them, listen to them, devour them through the words which lie on the pages that fold like waves before us. We pass them on, our own olympic flame, keeping the beauty, power and euphoria of these stories burning alive in us, year after year, from one to another, telling them over and over from generation to generation, changing, manipulating, enhancing, until the point of which these stories are a fixed moment in our lives, the lives of the world.

These stories may be sad, maybe joyful, long, short, powerful, weak, taking us to the farthest reaches of the known universe, travelling at the speed of light aboard our planet sized vessel, or simply sailing across a lake in Scotland, fighting pirates and spies, living the life of an 1920s child with only their imagination to set them free beyond the borders of a war torn world.

And from that, we can live the lives that we never can or never could, but can hopefully grasp onto the far away reality, and then present it onto the next torch bearer, continuing to carry the crashing storm of red, yellow and orange, lighting our path and the future ahead.

Welcome to 'The Art of Page Turning', a self-inspired and produced blog series, delving into the history of the art of storytelling, through the many lines of black and white, and through the panels of colour and vividness. Together we shall explore these known and unexplored realms, charting our own course and point of destination, whatever that may lie.

Join me, avid reader, artist or writer (or some lost soul who has somehow come across this page), as we turn the pages before us together.
