When preparing to do the first shoot of the model city experiment (laser cutouts), I had an idea about using an analogue camera to obtain imagery of the city, since I would otherwise be doing it digitally, losing a certain amount of detail or look of the city, that would be unknown to me since I had never used an analogue camera before or developed the film and so on.
So, briefly after checking out a camera with the college tech department, I was taught by a lecturers on how to use and set up a camera, such as feeding the film, adjusting exposure and shutter settings.
With those set up I began to shoot with the analogue camera, making use of the 36 black and white shots that I had, capturing the city at different angles, exposures and focuses, capturing imagery which looked cool through the lens, but would be unknown until it I can seen them once processed.
And thankfully, that did happen today, so yay, but there was still and ounce of disappointment. Like I said, I had never used a film/analogue camera before, and due to this, a lot of my shots appeared underexposed, or in other words, the pictures are hard to see, very transparent, ghost like, some even barely visible, due to the small amount of imagery that is captured onto the black and white film.
YET! THERE IS A POSITIVE!
Behold! The great existence of the fantastic Adobe Photoshop! More of less. Even though the 36 shots are under exposed a little, almost a quarter of the pictures are clearly visible by the eye, and are perfect for digital enhancing and enlarging in a dark room. Shown below, is one of the negatives I have managed to digitally adjust so far:
